Progress your sea kayaking in deep, tidal water with advanced control & recovery skills. This Intermediate Kayak course follows on from the 'Intro to Sea Kayaking - Level 2'; equivalent to BC 3 Star level, roll not required but useful.

The Basics
- Planning & preparation.
- Interpreting tidal & weather forcasts
- Equipment & its uses
- Progressing your existing skills to vertical & horizontal moving water, small swell & surf to 3 feet.
- Deep water with tidal flow; moderate seas.
- Negotiating marine traffic & basic seamanship (rules of the road).
- Introduction to marine V.H.F. radios & demonstration.
- Practical towing; short & long tows.
- Refresh Assisted Recovery.
- Learn a Self-Recovery.
- Equipment & clothing check.

Requirements
- Student MUST be able to perform a solid, well-executed assisted recovery in deep water.
- Carry at least two means of calling for assistance on their person.
- Have a spare (split) paddle on deck.
- An approved watersports helmet.
- Approved tow system. If not, please purchase one here Guide Rope Tow System.
